Messy-Messy

I love watching youtube clips of artists at work, though I have yet to film any video footage of my own. My friend Simone has shot footage, however, and the gift of getting to spend virtual time in her studio watching her create infused my own creating today. I painted quickly and intuitively, with happy messy-messy freedom.

Thanks so much, Dotty, for your sharing of my video! And: I'm glad it worked out well for you! I love the beautiful 'branches' that I see! Maybe they are not branches, but I love them anyway...

Simone, I see branches too, with a couple of leaves still hanging on.

First I love that you will have larger squares in your grid! Makes for lots of interest and contrast with more quieter areas. Of course I know everything can change on a moment, but that's all the fun!

Happy to share your video! It really freed me up to be "messy" and intuitive as I painted. Yes, 'branches'—as I painted them I had them in a vertical orientation.

Right you are, Joje, about the leaves! : )

Thanks for appreciating the larger patch here, Carol.

It's so funny to be finding myself paying some attention to contrast and composition now that more is showing up on Core Values; when I started I had no intention of keeping any of it so I wasn't thinking of anything except playing in the various spaces I'd created.

This is gorgeous - so much movement in those 'branches' and the 'hanger on leaves'. The background has so much variation in it - gorgeous neutrals with the lights and darks, brushstrokes and marks. You are going places with 'Core Values'!

Janet, thanks for feeding back to me your observations of the visual language at play here—e.g. the movement, the variety, the neutrals/lights/darks, the brushstrokes, the marks. You help me take a step back to notice what has flowed out onto the 'canvas.'

You went BIG! Broke the grid. Uh-huh! Interesting, and getting more interesting. I love the branches, crinkly leaves and know that if they are covered, they can still add loads of cool texture. So fun seeing your progress and close ups. Each of these small squares will be jewels. So exciting knowing there is more to come, and not knowing what. LOL. :) I know YOU are having a blast ;)

Indeed, went BIG here and broke the grid! And, indeed, exciting knowing there is more to come and NOT KNOWING WHAT. I seem to be doing a lot of NOT KNOWING these days!
