French Knots and Appliqué

It feels as though I go to an actual physical place when I step outside my thinking brain into wherever it is I find myself when I paint.

Using paint splatters, collage, stencils, texture sheets, oil pastels, and a plastic tool whose name I don't know, I added 'embroidery' today to the painted 9-square quilt patch I pieced together before I went to Virginia.

Thanks, Carol. The additions are tickling my fancy and, as you suggest, this quilt is keeping me (and my painting spirit) warm : )

Beautiful 'hand work' Dotty! Subtle but can see just enough to draw me in. You are on a roll!

Thanks for your feedback, Janet. It's fun, even for me, to go back to look at the before and after, to notice, explore, and appreciate the subtle shifts.

It IS an actual place Dotty, and I am pretty sure it is in the same neighborhood where Sigmund the sea monster and H.R. Pufnstuf live ;)
These sweet details would keep my fingers busy as a fell asleep beneath this lovely light filled quilt :)

Oh my gosh, you're reminding me of my daughter's favorite quilt, made by my mom out of dozens of little 3-inch square gingham 'puff pillows' stitched together. The gingham pilled up from use and washing, and my daughter loved funning her fingers over the texture of the pills; she called it her scratchy : )

Thanks for your comments!
