Don't Fence Me In

You know how I can fuss for surprising amounts of time with twenty square inches of postcard real estate?

Today's studio adventure, a Valentine to myself, so to speak:

• one thousand seven hundred twenty-eight square inches (equivalent to 86 postcards),

• twelve minutes, and

• a large dose of happy-go-lucky-devil-may-care.

layer #1, work in progress
2.5x4 feet, with a 4x5" postcard for perspective

WOOT! Hooray for BIG! That's some serious art real estate there! Can't wait to see where this adventure goes!

Even having propped the monster substrate outdoors and with a tiny postcard in front of it, both so as to provide perspective, the internet screen only gives this photo the same space as one of my 4x5-inch postcards. But, it surely is BIG! Thanks for cheering me along!

WOW! You ARE bold! I magnified to see what the writing is , along that curve. That calls to me. BING, BAM, BOOM! How much fun you are going to have Dotty! And how lucky are we to tag along!!
All aboard!!

Is any of the writing legible? It became a cross between actual letters and asemic writing as I went along, and I superimposed 'words' on top of each other. I wrote out a bunch of thoughts to 'clear' my mind a bit—actually made at least one important decision in the process.

That is BIG! Congrats! Love the movement you have created with the light green. Also the scripts. Collage? Waiting for next layer. I have never gone that large. Wondering whether you have specific place for this piece?

Certainly big for the likes of me! It'll be fun to see what evolves.

Specific place this one will go, is that what you're asking? Nope!

I haven't even figured out a place where I can work on it. I started with the writing—with the piece propped upright on my studio floor, leaning against furniture. I sat on the floor and kept rotating the piece so I could reach all quadrants. Then I laid it flat on the bed that's in the studio while I added paint. I only got one blob of black paint on the bedspread.

You Devil! That is big and you are going to have fun - no doubt. This will be a another great 'art' adventure

I know the problem. Cover bedspread with an old sheet!

That would be way too sensible, and I'm usually too impatient to tend to such things when I'm in the middle of a project. Hmm, perhaps I need to tend to it NOW when I'm NOT in the middle of a painting!

Yes indeed! Adventure awaits! Thanks for the nod to the devil in me!

What!!! I first had to google how long a foot is, and then I saw that it is 120 long! That's huge!!!!
I'm so curious how you enjoyed it! It looks like fun to me! Write more about it in your blog posts (of course, if you feel like it ;-))

An adventure, yay!

One foot = 30 cm.

My postcards are usually about 10 x 13 cm, this support is about 76 x 122 cm. Or, 130 square cm vs. 9,272 square cm!

So, yes, huge for me. I plan to be painting on and writing more about the big painting soon, although I've already gotten sidetracked as you'll see in my next post!
