Moseying into Monday

I've got one eye open, my nose sniffing the air; I'm just starting to stir after my self-crafted hibernation of the past two weeks or so.

Yesterday a post from Nicholas Wilton landed in my inbox.

I went to delete it because, well, because I was hibernating, ya know? But I noticed the title: HOW TO START AFTER YOU HAVE STOPPED

Wilton made mention of having to regain buoyancy and momentum.

Indeed.

I play with a postcard today—tear and cut some collage paper painted awhile back, tear some pieces from a calendar page, get my hands sticky with glue.

Might just curl up and take a nap now.

Lovely this springtime piece. Wait, that doesn't mesh with the title. LOL. Makes me think of blooming Bougainvillea and Orange trees :)

The great wild dark, that mysterious place from which Bougainvillea and orange trees (and artists) come into bloom. I'm grateful for this bit of spring as I wake to falling snow this morning.

I had no plans for orange for this piece, but my substrate was a rectangle cut from a Shutterfly envelope, and I liked the way its orange was playing against the colors I was working with, so I pulled some orange collage paper into my mix!

Welcome back!!!! I love how that quote perfectly meshed with where you are...and that gorgeous postcard! Well, clearly hibernation is a great mojo booster for you! xo

Your recent postcard-size collages gave me a doorway back into my art practice, Simone—thank you! I laughed more than once, though, because I have yet to make such a collage in a quick, carefree manner … something I'd like to do!

Jen, thank you for your warm welcome and encouragement. My hibernation turned out to be more what I'd call a retreat from a number of practices/responsibilities/activities and less the long nap I had in mind. The slowed pace and change-up of activities ended up creating space for all sorts of discomfort/angst/LOUDMONKEYMINDCHATTER to arise—so not what I'd call resoundingly restful and restorative, but important and renewing in its own way. Anywho, here I am with a postcard, and a gorgeous one at that, according to one of my followers!

What a surprise! I had stopped my usual practice of checking D in the browser which alway brought up your blog! Glad to see you kicking about and absolutely LOVE your pinks and that orange!

Carol, great to hear from you! I thought of you several times while making this piece because I used more printed photographic imagery (from a calendar) than is usual for me. Glad to hear you love the pinks and (Shutterfly) orange.

FYI, you can subscribe to my blog if you wish, which will notify you of new posts automatically via email instead of your having to check in manually to see if I've posted : )

Thanks for your open arms, Janet. I'm further glad you wrote because I wanted to tell you that I had a Pinterest email in my box this a.m. with the subject heading "18 Landscape paintings Pins you might like"—I don't always open those emails but I did this morning and discovered to my great delight that nearly half the Pins were JANET BRADISH paintings which I most surely DID/DO like! Will you be doing the Feb 30in30???

gotcha! I'd assumed you were subscribed, and indeed you are, for which I am most grateful : )
