Outer Eye, Inner Eye

My outer eye says, What on earth is that? Total fail.

My inner eye says, Oh. My. Gosh. You nailed it! You have painted a perfect representation of who you are right here and right now. There you are, in paint, on paper.

Alrighty then. Glad I got that out of my system.

Thanks for this post. I think we have to rely on our "inner" eye more. It's more us than the "outer" one, which sometimes is like someone else is running the show!

It's an interesting pas de deux when the outer and inner eye are on stage dancing as a duo. I like the way they interact and create something together. My outer eye said ugly, which could have triggered a drain of energy. My inner eye said in-process, which energized me.

Inner eyes only, please! This is beautiful...organic, textural, flowing. The earthy color palette is grounding and serene. Our job is to create art. Others can judge it. When we judge our own work, it almost never feels good or done or right.

Agree with Jennifer! Love this - the whole piece is just beautiful....

Well, go figure! I might have recognized organic here; in fact, I did, and I can see texture, but beautiful? flowing? Hmmm. I've been pondering inner eye/outer eye for a number of days now. More fodder now. Thanks so much for weighing in.

Janet, thank you for weighing in, agreeing with Jen. And … knock me over with a feather. I just don't see the beauty here BUT I am so grateful to be sharing my work so I can learn again and again that their are viewpoints other than my own! Painting is such a gift in my life.
