Quick & Quixotic 5

Did I know I was anywhere near a shore?

Did I have any inkling I might be shoved out to sea?

Well, nothing for it but to float, to yield to the gift of buoyancy.

Dave and I are off to Virginia and West Virginia for the coming week to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Quick & Quixotic will not be joining us on this holiday.

I will bring a tiny art kit, and I do plan to paint. Won't know about wifi and blogging till I'm in situ.

Happy Anniversary to you and Dave! Have a lovely time in the 'Virginia's'! Loving the new paint on this! Gorgeous colour - can just barely see bits of the original paint. Love it!!

Thanks for your wishes for our anniversary and travels, and thanks for your feedback on Q&Q—your comment about being able to (just barely) see bits of the original paint spark me to want to get some rubbing alcohol and do a little intentional excavating to reveal more. Thank you for leading my train of thought in that direction. We'll have to see if I can hold that thought until some time after the 15th of the month!

I see land in site! Love how the colors all come together. Congrats and have a great trip! By the sea ,by the sea, by the beautiful sea!

Shifting gears to the impulse of these colors was fun!

I remember the first place I ever heard 'By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea!' Just now discovered they're from the musical "For Me and My Gal" (1914).

Thanks for stopping by, Carol.

Happy Anniversary!!!!! I love this high-horizon piece. If you were shoved out to sea, you would paint while floating on the waves...

Thanks for the anniversary wishes—we've celebrated our anniversaries quite a few times at this point!

Awesome idea of painting while floating on the waves! I could grab some squid ink and a few sparkles from the water's surface :)

My granddaughter (10) wants to know: WHO is up at 455a (other than her crazy Gma and Papawi)??? And, more importantly, WHY.

Happy Anniversary to you both! I hope you have great weather, and a wonderful time together. My husband is from WV, and we lived in Charleston for a couple years. Lovely city, and state. I miss it, and the people who live there.

Thanks for your anniversary wishes, Katie! We've vacationed in the CCC-built cabins in several different WV state parks for about the past 10 years, hiking miles and miles of trails and sitting in front of stone fireplace fires. The best!

Happy Anniversary to you both! This is very relaxing to me. Just a moment of floating offshore. I hear seagulls, and children laughing, a light breeze. The cool water and warm sun are a perfect mix. Reminds me of childhood, and being carefree. :) So many possibilities here. :)

Thanks for your anniversary wishes, Sheila, and for your feedback on the relaxing nature of this stage of Q&Q. You mention of being carefree as a child is particularly powerful—I'm happy to have that expansive, in-the-moment way of being associated with Q&Q : )

Wishing you a wonderful trip! No idea how Virginia or West Virginia looks like!

Just googled for a moment: must be fantastic! Especially in this autumn weather!

Thanks for your good wishes. My daughter lives in Shenandoah Valley, VA, so is surrounded by beautiful mountains. In West Virginia we are IN the mountains—very rustic and absolutely beautiful.

Hi Dotty!

Happy Anniversary! I can close my eyes and picture you and Dave on your wedding day! I'm picturing you now celebrating in cabins, parks, and beaches.

This lovely carefree work captures the expansive enjoyment I've always found around you both. Hope your trip is wonderful!

Leaping into another dimension...as you know, fiberarts/fabric/quilting is my love. Whenever I look at your work, I frequently want to wear it or sew it! Have you ever thought of turning a selection of your work into silk scarves??? Fabric??? Of course, this doesn't just happen in spare time...which I know you don't have in great supply. Mostly I want you to know that I have my own special response to the visual feast you so regularly and generously serve!!!

Carolyn, thanks for your anniversary wishes. I can close MY eyes and picture YOU at our wedding! Dave and I had a sweet, sweet week in VA and WV. Home late today, unpacking, regrouping.

Yes, I HAVE thought of turning a selection of my work into silk scarves and/or fabric. I can show you that idea on my want-to-do list—and can hardly wait for that spare time you mention! I appreciate your thumbs-up response to the potential fiber-arts nature of my work. All in good time.

Grateful for your hello and your feedback.
