Home Away

Cabin C will be home sweet home for a happy week starting August 20.

CAMP!!!

I'll have limited access to wifi and little inclination to avail myself of it.

But … painting at camp in my makeshift cobwebby studio space at the ill-lit back of the musty little Grube Library cabin, overlooking Cass Pond through the trees with morning sunlight filtering through, is so in-the-moment that I hate to think of waiting till after camp to post photos.

Can't tell ya whether I'll post or not.

Hearing camp songs in my head. If the log rolls over we'll all be dead...
Ok, one camp song. LOL

We'll try to be very patient! Love that cabin. Looks exactly like the one I stayed at girl-scout camp! Hope those windows have screens.

maybe I'll send camp songs all week!

this is one of my favorite paintings ever; yup, screens on the 'windows'—the windows are actually nothing but a holes in the wall, with screens, and a hinged horizontal shutters that get propped open with sticks found on the ground

Thanks, Jen. This painting fascinates me. I painted it in 2015 and it remains one of my favorites ever. I don't paint in that style at all any more and can't imagine even being able to, but it seemed like the perfect painting to showcase as I headed off to camp.

Thanks, Katie! I am now at the other end of my week at camp—just arrived home about an hour ago. It was the best!!!
