From Stillness

Something has shifted. Something is calling. I don't exactly know what, and I don't need to. I don't need to analyze or interpret or ponder or figure out. Or use my brain at all.

I just need to pay attention. To return to beginner's mind. To be in wonder. To paint from deep inside, from the inside out, from stillness.

Today I picked up a start from several weeks ago—as long ago as May perhaps?—and let myself be present to it. The non-striving was delicious. I have no preconceived destination with this piece; I will go wherever we travel together.

Here's where we landed today.

work in progress;

Magical, first word that comes to mind. Love the contrasts of the printed matter with the flowing shapes. Go with the flow, enjoy your journey!

Carol, I'm liking your perception of magical! The printed matter is appealing to me, too, and the lava flow. Thanks for the reminder/encouragement to 'go with the flow.'

Terrific movement :) Is it the wind, or is it a stream? I am excited at the prospect of flowing along with it in either case! Briefly see petals waking up. So many possibilities, and I know you can see many more :) Really love this first life :)

Sheila, thanks for your insights/responses. Your seeing movement aligns with my also seeing movement, but I love hearing your queries about wind, or stream, where I probably didn't think any more specifically than 'flow' as I painted. Your saying you know I can see many more [possibilities] interests me, because I don't really see anything in particular calling out to me. No idea where this will take me next time I pick it up, and no idea where whatever impulse DOES come along will have come from!
