100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall

100 bottles of beer on the wall,
100 bottles of beer,
You take one down,
and pass it around …

Oh, wait! That's not the song I meant to sing.

Same tune, though.

100 layers of paint on the page,
100 layers of paint,
You slap one down,
and turn it around …

Took an applicator bottle of ink, made shapes and drips. Layer 4.

layer 4

Don't like the results at all.

Don't think it'll much matter if I like or don't like this layer of mark making—it's hard to imagine any trace of it will be visible 96 layers from now!

LOL! Turn it, and make them trees. When I saw the round shapes, it reminded me of that trio of golden trees you did... One of my favorites. :)

You know that at the very least, I'll turn the gessobord. Love your idea of trees! And love that you still remember the trio of golden trees I did. I'm thinking you mean Hanging Out Together, posted 12/10/15. But I just bumped into Spark Plugs, posted 11/17/15, and it has some lines similar to what I've got going above in layer 4, too!

Thanks a lot...now that song is stuck in my head! ha ha! The beauty of all those layers is the endless possibility for improvement. I happen to like this layer quite a bit, but will be interested to see it peeking out of future layers, too! :)

You are not the only one I got going on that song! Doesn't it just put you right back in a field-trip bus with school friends?

Knowing in advance that there will be MANY layers, many MORE layers than perhaps ever, puts a new spin and freedom into my process. Stay tuned!

I was sure that I answered this. Maybe didn't
press the publish button. Anyhoo I do like this layer even though I know it will change. Aren't we all changing? One story after another all an endless chain.
Which is your preferred email? Verizon or gmail? Sent post to verizon!

Hi, Carol. Yes, this layer will give way to another! And, yes, we all change all the time. I'm grateful to painting for helping me live change with more grace.

Verizon is preferred email b/c I keep better track of it, but I do a bunch of art corresponding at gmail so that's fine, too. Meanwhile, I now realize I owe you an email!

Have you been painting?

Is that a drunk ghost I see in a tree? Oh, never mind me.. :D

Hey, The Happiness Project book is on sale at Amazon for only $1.99. It reminded me of your recent blog posts, so I thought you might be interested. I'm late to the party, so you might have read it already. I'm not sure if I can leave a link here, but I'll try..

I think it IS a drunk ghost you see in a tree. With any good fortune, it'll sober up soon.

I read Gretchen Rubin's Happier at Home about five years ago but haven't yet read The Happiness Project. Thanks for the recommendation!

Ha - I see the ghost too.....love the layers you are adding - so interesting that you are not covering it all up, but adding shapes (which are great) with different materials and then on to the next layer. I have a question....when you are putting that many layers of acrylic paint on are there any problems with the layers separating (ie peeling off)? So what is next!

Janet, thanks for your comments. My painting is ahead of my posting but even so I've only adding 10 layers on top of the original. Thus far, no problems with separation of layers, but time will tell.
