Jan 2017 30in30, Day 30

Ta da!

Just finished painting and photographing my final piece for Leslie Saeta's January 2017 Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge.

AWESOME MONTH of friendship, art, experimentation, learning, candor, sharing, laughter, stretching, and discovery.

Awesome.

And a beauty to finish it off, Dotty! It reminds me of a kalidescope (I know I spelled it wrong). A beautiful one that I knew as a child...nice memories! Your 29 is very cool. It is full of movement and energy and color. Nice job on the challenge! I know we'll continue our rapport, but this month has been extra special!

Laurie, thanks for your comments and feedback—always! And thanks for painting for thirty days in a row—LOVED your creations!

Yes, a kaleidoscope!

Indeed, we'll continue our rapport and chatter even without the chatter, but I do still have to figure out why several blogs—yours among them—do not reach my inbox. That's my first post-challenge challenge!

Love how you incorporated the checkerboard. I see the kaleidoscope too. Love the shapes and colour. Congratulations on the challenge. You created so many interesting and beautiful paintings. Loved seeing the transformation from 'start' to finish. Such a pleasure getting to know you this month - your comments are so insightful and open my eyes to see so much more. I look forward to keeping in touch and seeing what you are up to next! So... my next challenge(s) - solve the blog problem and clean up my studio. Take care!

This is marvelous! My first reaction was stained glass. Aside from the actual outlines it has a very iridescent quality. What a finally! That checker board is a wonderful complement. I used to LOVE kaleidoscopes as a kid. Are you going to the other half? Congrats on a wonderful month!!!

Thanks for your comments, Janet. The checkerboard feels nonsensically appealing to me. We will indeed keep in touch! Such a gift to 'meet' you this month and to meet your art as well. Lucky me!

Thanks, Carol! My first reaction was also stained glass window. The black lines needed softening so I use silver ink on top of them, and then I wanted to play up the textural quality coming from the underlayment of torn tissue collage which is when I got fiddling with oil pastels and created the 'iridescence.' The checkerboard stripe makes me laugh, but I like it. The other half of this piece is what I posted on 1/29 (the flowers turned sideways, so to speak).

I am so glad you had such a marvellous month after the quite tirening months before. So glad it was not another thing to check of your list but in stead of that a new possibility to reach out to other people, give other people the possibility to reach out to you, and challenge yourself!

Thanks, Simone, you summed up January beautifully! Now, probably some moments or days of transition. Wondering what they will bring.

I "tickled" it! I'll try again....hmmm...says you are active.

Lovely colors and interesting shapes in this one and I love the addition of the checkerboard. I love the way you crop to show detail too!

Thanks for the 'tickle' and thanks for letting me know your blog says my subscription is active. That at least gives me info—now I just have to figure out what to do/whom to consult!

Karolyn, thanks for your comments. Glad you like the detail shots, too—isn't it astonishing how much there can be to see and explore in a painting that's only 4x5", for Pete's sake?!

So fun this one!! Awesome month for Dotty is right! Your daring influence helped keep me going when the going got rough! Congratulations on the fabulous art you created! Thanks so much for sharing it all with us :) I love that you include the detail views as well, so fun to see the different masterpieces living in just one painting!

Yes, such fun this one. I just love that it would never have occurred to me to SET OUT to paint this, but what fun that by putting some marks on paper, and then more marks, and so forth, I DID paint it!

The daring influence went both ways, Sheila! I just loved being totally surprised by some of your January pieces, which in turn emboldened me in my own investigation.

I've enjoyed taking detail photos of late. I learn quite a bit from them.

Terrific month of January for both of us, I have to say!
