Jan 2017 30in30, Day 25

Karolyn Alexander and I had a discussion the other day, in the comments section of one of her blog posts, about titling our work.

Please see the working title for today's work in progress.

Ink Applicator that Clogged Up and Got Ink All Over My Hands
So I Went to Wash Up

and Then Got Black Ink All Over the White Porcelain Sink
Which Led to My Getting Out a Sponge and Ajax
to Scrub Up the Sink and Then
—In for a Penny In for a Pound—
Also Cleaned the Bathroom Floor,
Before I Got Out Some Crayons
to Add Color
to What I Originally Thought
Was Going to Be a Black and White Painting

Don't you just love this painting's ability to say so much with so little?

Beautiful memories.......of the Shrine Circus! Yes, it's the aerial masters, doing their awesome twists and turns, their daring soars, and their elegant moves.I had to have a medical procedure today. I'm a bit off. But I mean this as a great compliment...I see so much in this piece, Dotty!

SO much fun to get a window on what you see here, Laurie, and that you see so much. I just love the way painting is a collaboration, so to speak, between painter and viewer. Thanks for these wonderful observations!

Oh Dotty, just spoke of that to a friend. Started cleaning one little thing, and an hour later I had cleaned this and that and the other. LOL. This reminds me of the old movies, where they had dozens of dancers, and the camera moves above them. And you are looking down watching them form different shapes. Only, I think these dancers are new to the show, and they are not as synchronized as they should be. LOL :)

Hahaha....when you get side tracked you don't mess around! Love the crayon work - just makes the whole piece. Agree totally that less is more. I see organic flower shapes and then I look again and see life under a microscope and then Laurie and Sheila's comments make me look again. I am glad you went further than just a black and white painting.

It amazes me how the addition of some black marks and color make the painting sing. Can't wait to see how the melody turns out! Keep singing!

Sheila, love your old-movies-camera-above-the-dancers viewpoint, and your saying these dancers are not as synchronized as they should be is outstanding! Yes! I don't want synchrony here! I'm scouting for the offbeat renegades in my dance troupe!

Janet, thanks for your feedback. Loved hearing that you see organic flower shapes, and then life under a microscope. Your observations, along with Laurie's and Sheila's will have me coming up with a new title … that will be no shorter than the current working title!

I'm glad I went further than just b&w, too. The crayon work was pure pleasure for me. That's when I got into intuitive flow.

Thanks for your support and enthusiasm for this process—I so appreciate your getting into the spirit of this adventure with me.

I'm humming as I go along! Melody to be revealed later today!

I love this Dotty! I laughed out loud reading your working title. Isn't that exactly how it goes? Oops, must go fold some laundry now!

Glad you got a laugh out of my working title! I'm laughing all over again myself!
