Sneaking in After Hours

Saw all the leftover paint on my palette from Lesson 5. Had to sneak in one more color exploration before saying a final goodbye to this lesson. Inspired by others in my class, I stepped away from free-form to some straight-edged areas of color this time.

Color #9

FYI, I'll be away for 10 days starting today. I'm hoping to paint at least a few times while on vacation but I will most likely not be posting at my blog until I return home, at which point I'll pick up where I've left off.

This one makes me think of Origami paper, ready to take shape!

Thanks, Carol. My intent was to do no more than create color areas with a range of hue, saturation, and value. The fun, after the fact, is to take a look at the whole and see depth, shadow, and suggested everyday items—a folded brown card and a yellow origami start on top of turquoise paper on a table …

Totally! And the fun of it is that I had nothing concrete in mind at all as I painted.

I love what is happening in the blue areas, and the yellow looks as if it has been folded. Makes me wonder what it is going to become :) Have a great trip Dotty!

Thanks, Sheila. This was an enjoyable piece to play with, a toss-off, so to speak, to use up leftover paints on my palette and push myself to use some angular shapes. Fun in the doing and then fun in the viewing—about which I had few expectations.
