MONOCHROME STRIPES, Day 5

These little painted quilts appeal to me at several levels—love putting leftover bits of paint to good use; love painting the quilts on 4x5" sturdy manila stock that was passed along to me by a friend about fifteen years ago; love coming away with postcards to send to my father as a byproduct of fulfilling a lesson requirement.

Monostripes #5 (Paint Quilt)
---
differences in stripe width, length, and spatial orientation create variety;
dry-brush technique on upper top left block of vertical stripes
especially catches my eye
and lends a soft overall feel to the piece
---
As with Monostripes #4, I didn't finish this piece in any way,
but it has a more finished look; even so,
I'll play with it further, too, before sending it as a postcard.

Carol, thanks for your feedback. Soft edges are an ongoing experiential lesson for me, easier to accomplish the less invested I am in outcome, e.g. this little postcard or a sheet of collage paper. I 'lacquer' my cards, using matte medium, only when there are collage pieces and/or pastels. They fare really well in the mail. My dad has them all in a little stack at his home—they'd make a fun little exhibit : )

Hats off to you, Carol, for paying attention to quadrants! I'm so hyper focused on whatever the current lesson is that I barely give any conscious nods to past lessons—I'm hoping those past lessons are playing out to at least some little degree at a subconscious level.

Oh Dotty, Dotty, Dotty- I love what you've been up to! Thank you for your wonderful comments as always. I keep an eye on your work always, and see so much evolution all the time. I love your banner, too!

Laurie, THANK YOU for the pom poms and megaphone and sassy skirt—I'm in need of cheerleading this afternoon as I muck about with my current assignment. Your message could not have come at a better time!

Have to say this banner makes me think of a frilly party dress, and I just know fun is a scroll away :) LOL I really like this one Dotty, it just feels... right. Love the out of focus bottom corner. I look to that last, and the soft edges make me think of drooping eyelids, and perhaps a quick nap. LOL. Peaceful and somehow comforting, these quilt pieces :)

Oh, a nap. Sounds great.

I remember back in the day, as a preschooler, when it was nap time but I didn't have a sleepy bone in my body anywhere, I'd love to study the fabric patches in the quilt made by my great grandmother.
