Variety, B&W, Day 1

What is this, a high intensity interval training class? Do we not get to catch our breath, grab a drink of water, wipe the sweat from our brow?

Not so much.

New lesson.

Variety. Black and white.

Go.

Get your heart rate up!

Today, five starts—first passes at making marks.

i love these. The freedom, sponteneity. Love grays. My favorite is # 5. The contrast between large shape and scribbles!

Thanks, Carol! I actually created these on Wednesday, I think, but didn't post till yesterday. Already, these pieces seem like barely remembered ancient history because they are now WIPs and no longer mere "starts." Fun to have you pick a favorite : )

Love the value studies. It forces one to pay attention to all the other elements and how they interact. Sometimes I photograph a painting and view it in B & W just for that reason. The different perspective can produce amazing alterations!

Thanks for your comments, Connie. Stay tuned—more to come with these pieces. Have to generate lots of variety in them …
