Mise en Place

When I rustle up a recipe in the kitchen I sometimes get impatient and bypass the mise en place part of the process.

But I have some collage exercises in mind for which I'll need a bunch of paper, and making that paper—doing the mise en place for those upcoming collage exercises—is so much fun.

Maybe I could be a prep cook.

Nothing like a little acrylic flambé!

Hi Dotty,

Yes, preparing for collage- work is fun!

I sometimes forget that this kind of preparation- things also have to be done. For instance: I have to make time to decide what kind of canvases I need to order, what paint is running out, where I can buy them cheap, etcetera!

Third one- my favorite! As always, I love your art and your writing, Dotty!

Thanks, Laurie! Fun to hear which was your favorite—I've already cut into that one and used bits of it in collage : )

I laugh now, when I look back to the very first lesson in which Jane Davies had me paint papers. I dutifully did so but I don't think I really knew why I was doing it. Now, I get it! (Well, I THINK I do!).

I can completely identify with what you say above about preparation steps; I know I have paint that is running out but I just can't get myself to go replace it!
