Romping Around

Took a quick romp with charcoal pencil, paint, collage, and ink to make a card for my baby sister.

She and I share many conversations about following other than a beaten path, so I followed other than a beaten path in creating this card, trying some new-to-me stuff.

Happy birthday, Marj! Do notice the hidden forbidden treats …

Hey Dotty! Welcome, charcoal!
Looks really nice: charcoal has it's own rough beauty I think! (But it also makes always a mess too...)
Love your explorations in colour and mixed media!

I appreciate your recognition of the qualities of charcoal—the initial lines and scribbles were free and fun. Then, as I continued to work on the piece, smudges everywhere! Plenty to learn, once again. Then I went on to use the hot pink ink to make a pattern of dots, and that ink had no interest whatsoever in drying—even with a hairdryer! Again, plenty to learn! Thanks for your interest in my explorations in color and mixed media.

Dotty, you romp, you swim, you play...and all with art supplies! Lucky baby sister. This is awesome and I love the sweet hidden gems!

Thanks, Laurie! Baby sister is currently doing a 30-day dietary reset that doesn't allow most of what is in the recipe I collaged to her card—she'll laugh at those thinly veiled forbidden treats!
