A SNeries, Day 3

Well, I've got a mess o' somethin', that's for sure!

At the end of day 2, this:

I decide to see what happens if I tone down the black rectangles.

Yeah, well.

The whole thing looks messy and crowded and chaotic.

My impulse is to add more, so I follow it—perhaps intuiting that doing so will force me into ongoing practice in covering up old layers with new. I add pattern to each piece.

Started with a mess o' somethin', ended with a mess o' somethin'.

My gut says, Give it a rest.

  1. Hey Dottie, How I have missed you since the 30 in 30! Had to check in, and see what art you've been up to ......which is AWESOME! I haven't written a blog since Feb as I am slowly trying to put a series together and it's taking it's time. Lovely to see you again! Hugs..... Gillian

    1. Gillian, so great to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by. I've checked your blog faithfully every few days since the end of January. I'm glad your last January post is a painting I love … cuz it's there saying hi to me every time I visit. I JUST had the thought the other day to write to you, but you beat me to the punch. So glad to know you're working on something; I couldn't figure out where you'd gone after seeing your stunning work day after day in January. Now I know. Once your series finishes "taking its time" I'll be so eager to see it. Hugs from this end, too. Dotty

  2. Couldn't wait for your post to land in my mailbox, so I dropped by before signing off for the night. No time to answer your letter, with a letter and not a short note. First thing tomorrow, and I am looking forward to it. :) Of course my first thing is later than your first thing. LOL
I like the new pieces and parts and the wonderfulness of layers on top of layers. So exciting this ride called Dotty's art express!

    1. Hi Sheila, I do sometimes feel like I'm on a runaway train—and that's all I'll say about Dotty's art express! I'm definitely traveling into new terrain with this series. Thanks for your support!

  3. I love Sheila's description- art express! I want to jump on board. These are cool, Dotty! But I also liked the dark shapes. But what do I know? My gut has said "give it a rest" many times!

    1. You're already on board! And I'm glad we're rocketing along together!

I appreciate your commenting that you liked the dark shapes. Makes me realize how little critique/help I solicit directly. I've just recently been remembering a little more often to seek input.

I wonder if anyone has put pennies on the track in front of this art express!
