More Than the Eye Can See

Yesterday, on my early morning drive home from the Y, big ol' low-lying clouds hugged the horizon out on the water beyond Cape Ann and created for my inland eyes the mirage of a mountain range.

Always fun to live near mountains for a few minutes.

I have always lived near mountains. The Colorado Rockies. And hear we can see Mt. Baldy to the north, Palomar Mountain to the south, Big Bear and, San Jacinto to the east, and we are right next to the Santa Ana Mtns. and the Santa Rosa Plateau. Love your depiction Dotty :)

Fun to hear about your mountains. I have mostly lived near the ocean, but my folks have lived near mountains in Maine for 25 years and my daughter has lived in Shenandoah Valley VA surrounded by mountains for 10 years, so I do happily get mountain fixes. What sparked my abstract collage above, as described in my post, is a phenomenon that occurs periodically which makes it look like I live surrounded by my very own mountains!

It is a joy to see your experiments!!!

(And if I hear you talk about mountains I always long for having this kind of rough nature around. I guess I just have to live with this flat (but beautiful anyway...) country.

with love,
Simone

And I love your new heading! (But I loved the other one too...)

Thanks for your enthusiasm for my experiments. More to come—my painting output is ahead of my posting (a happy place to be, I might add).

I remember the flat flat landscape of the Netherlands. I also remember when my son Scott had to make a 3-D relief map of Kansas for school as a 10-year-old; at the scale of his project, the western side of the flat state was 1/2 inch higher than the east—done!

I love the composition! And the postcards. I'm getting so many cool ideas from everyone thanks to this challenge!

Thanks for your nod to the composition. That was the assignment, though I strayed from the assignment with my complementary color and probably with my intentional abstraction of a particular scene; all part of exploring and playing. Glad the postcards appeal to you. It IS fun getting ideas from each other, isn't it. So glad I found the challenge back in September and am doing it again now.

Hi Dotty, Just curious - how do you sell your paintings? I see no links to eBay or Etsy or Daily Paintworks or ........?

Gillian, thanks for your question. Thus far, most of my sales have been local and through personal connects. I do post on Daily Paintworks, but now you're waking me up to the fact that I have no link here at my blog to connect me! Thank you! Any/all suggestions welcome.

You picked an apt blog post—with its title of More Than the Eye Can See—at which to ask this question!

Again, thank you.
