Performance Art

A year ago in July I snapped a photo of an ebb tide trickling into Manchester's inner harbor. Came home and painted up the scene.

Ebb and Shadow
24x18", acrylic on stretched canvas
landscape
2014
$430

Today, as has happened before, sunlight coming in from a skylight created a brief "performance painting" in concert with a plant that was willing to engage in shadow play. The show lasted only as long as it took for the earth to turn, and my home with it, such that the skylight no longer captured the afternoon sunlight.

Thanks, Sheila. It was fun to see how realtime sunlight and shadow made a little stage appearance on the sunlight and shadow painted on canvas!

Dear Dotty,
It is really wonderful to see these paintings. I wanted to comment earlier via my iPad, but that did not work. I guess because I am reluctant to give Google my password... (as if they did not already have it;-))

I love the white light shining on the vase. Beautiful those white and sharp shape.
You asked me, how long I am painting (I will respond later). But you? Have you only been painting for 1,5 year?

with love,
Simone

Simone, thank you for your comments. In answer to your question, yes, I began painting in May 2014. You can read a bit about that beginning at (written by Ann, whose blog this is), and there are other posts about that weekend here: (written by my best friend Sylvia), (written by me), and (written by me). There's more backstory that's fun that I'd be happy to share if you wish. Dotty
