Hasty Exit

Underpainted with yellow ochre. Let it dry.

Set intentions: paint quickly, stay simple, make a hasty exit.

Done.

A few self-critical thoughts touched down lightly. Brushed them off like so many early autumn flies. Their business is not my business.

Very appealing use of brush strokes and color. Perfect example of how color is changed and perceived differently depending on the other colors around it / context—the same color looks "peach" in the sky and "dry grass" when it's next to the green grass. Excellent!

Scott, thanks for your comments. Appreciated your observations re color and context. Also enjoyed your finding the brush strokes very appealing. Working quickly and steering clear of fussiness is very appealing to me when I can do so.

Thanks, Sheila! It was a fun one to paint. I plan to return to the reference photo to paint the scene again some day soon.
